THE REGIONAL CENTERS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF
NON-PROFIT SECTOR IN SERBIA
(RCRNPS)

The Regional Centers for the Development of Non-Profit Sector (RCRNPS) are partner organisations of the Center for the Development of Non-Profit Sector from Belgrade established with the aim to facilitate development of non-governmental, non-profit organizations in seven regions in Serbia.
The Regional Centers will use the CRNPS methodology in establishing regional and local NGO networks, strengthening and building NGO capacities.
The Regional Centers are established in the following regions:
a) Vojvodina (Novi Sad)
b) Central Serbia (Kraljevo)
c) Western Serbia (Uzice)
d) Northeastern Serbia (Smederevska Palanka)
e) Eastern Serbia (Knjazevac)
f) Southern Serbia (Leskovac)
g) Sandzak (Novi Pazar)

THE PROGRAMS OF THE REGIONAL CENTERS

1. Information-Documentation Program (gathering and distributing information; establishing the database on non-profit organizations in their particular region; publishing newsletters, brochures and books; mediating in contacts and communications; providing counseling).
2. Training and Education Program (organizing professional and educational meetings, round tables, seminars, public talks; publishing brochures and directions useful for advancing the work of non-governmental organizations).
3. Advocacy and Direct Aid to NGOs - organizing the Regional NGO Fora (advocating the interests of NGOs in the society; promoting and supporting the work and significance of NGOs; providing direct help, counseling, information and contacts).
4. The Volunteer Center Program (aiding in recruitment of the new people in projects and activities of local NGOs; establishing the volunteer labor exchange - the database on available citizens-volunteers willing to engage in non-governmental organizations).
5. Public Relations Program (advocating NGOs in public and developing an active relationship between NGOs, on the one hand, and media and public, on the other; helping the media in their covering NGOs)
6. Legal Counseling for NGOs (providing legal counseling for citizens and NGOs related to establishing, registering and working of NGOs; working towards the change of existing laws concerning the foundation and registration of the domestic and foreign NGOs in the FRY; analyzing and working towards changing the existing tax legislation related to the non- profit sector).

THE WAY THAT REGIONAL CENTERS OPERATE

The Regional Centers represent a network of partner organisations. The centre do not provide material aid, they do not arbitrate among organisations, neither do they order them what to do. They do not coordinate NGOs as “centers” from which something is either imposed or ordered. The Centers act as non-governmental, non-profit agencies. The services for all voluntary, non-profit organizations are free, while the Centers’ activities do not interfere with the programs and management structures of these organizations. They exist as “aid centers” for those who demand such help.
